MEMINI
Privacy Policy
Scope
This policy explains how the Memini iPhone and iPad app and this support website handle information. Memini is operated by John Mathew Loren ("Memini," "we," or "us") and does not require an account.
Your study content stays on your device
Memini stores your notebooks, imported PDFs and images, handwriting, recognized text, search index, interaction evidence, personalized memory model, snapshots, and recently deleted items in the app’s private storage on your device. Search, indexing, and every ranking decision run entirely on your device.
Memini never uploads a notebook, a page, a file, a search, or your study behavior. The only study content that ever leaves your device is a region you deliberately select and submit to Ask AI, described under Ask AI below. If you never use Ask AI, no study content leaves your device at all.
Information processed for Memini Pro
When the app starts, checks access, or you buy or restore Memini Pro, Memini communicates with Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat. RevenueCat may process:
- a randomly generated anonymous RevenueCat App User ID;
- the product, receipt, transaction, purchase, subscription, renewal, expiration, and entitlement status associated with that identifier; and
- limited technical information needed to operate the service, such as device type, operating system, app version, locale, currency, and the last time the app contacted RevenueCat.
Memini does not give RevenueCat your name, email address, advertising identifier, notebooks, handwriting, imported files, recognized text, searches, or study behavior. The anonymous App User ID is not connected by Memini to an account or real-world identity.
Why purchase information is used
Purchase information is used to display products and localized prices, validate receipts, unlock paid features, restore access, manage subscription status, prevent fraud, respond to support requests, and understand aggregate subscription performance through RevenueCat’s customer history and dashboard analytics. It is not used for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
Service providers and sharing
Apple processes payments, purchase confirmations, and subscription management under Apple’s Privacy Policy. RevenueCat acts as Memini’s purchase and entitlement service provider and processes the information above under RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy. If you use Ask AI, Google processes the submitted region, its recognized text, and your prompt as Memini’s AI provider under Google’s Privacy Policy, and Memini’s AI gateway is hosted on Railway, which processes ordinary network and server-log information as an infrastructure provider. Memini requires its providers to handle information consistently with this policy and applicable law. Memini does not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
Local study content remains on your device until you delete it. A deleted notebook remains recoverable in Recently Deleted for 30 days unless you permanently delete it sooner. Memini permanently removes expired Recently Deleted items the next time its local store opens. Deleting the app removes app-local data according to iOS behavior, but it does not remove archives you exported or device backups controlled by you.
Apple and RevenueCat may retain purchase and subscription records for as long as needed to provide and restore purchases, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and meet tax, accounting, or other legal obligations. Their retention rules apply to records they control.
Memini’s AI gateway keeps App Attest key, challenge, and installation records, and daily token-usage counters, for as long as needed to authenticate installations and enforce fair-use limits. It does not keep the content of any Ask AI request or response. Google’s retention of submitted content is governed by Google’s own terms, linked above. Deleting and reinstalling Memini creates a new App Attest key, so earlier installation records can no longer be associated with your device.
Your choices, consent, and requests
A purchase occurs only after you choose a product and confirm it through Apple. You can choose not to purchase, cancel future subscription renewals in Apple subscription settings, and export or permanently delete local notebooks in Memini. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent, although doing so does not affect earlier lawful processing.
To ask a privacy question or request access, correction, or deletion of information Memini controls, email johnmathewloren27@gmail.com. For a purchase-data request, include the RevenueCat App User ID shown in Memini Settings so the anonymous record can be located. Some purchase records may remain where Apple, RevenueCat, or law requires retention.
Ask AI
Ask AI is an optional Memini Pro feature. It never runs on its own: it acts only when you select a region of a canvas and choose Ask, Quiz, or Describe for that region.
When you submit such a request, Memini sends the following to its AI gateway, which forwards it to the Google Gemini API for processing:
- an image of the region you selected, compressed and size-limited;
- the text Memini recognized inside that region; and
- the prompt you typed.
Nothing else from the notebook is included — not the rest of the page, not other notebooks, not your search history, and not your files.
To confirm that requests come from a genuine, unmodified copy of Memini and that Memini Pro is active, each request also carries an Apple App Attest key identifier for your app installation and a short-lived access token. To issue that token, the gateway checks your Memini Pro status with RevenueCat using the anonymous RevenueCat App User ID.
The gateway stores only what it needs to authenticate installations and enforce fair-use limits: App Attest key and challenge records, an installation record pairing the App Attest key identifier with a one-way hash of the anonymous App User ID, and per-day token usage counters. The gateway does not store the image, the recognized text, the prompt, or the AI response.
Google processes the submitted region, recognized text, and prompt as Memini’s AI provider in order to generate a response, and handles that data under Google’s Gemini API terms and Google’s Privacy Policy, including their own retention and abuse-monitoring practices. Do not submit a region containing information you do not want processed by a third-party AI provider.
This website
This static site contains no advertising or analytics code. GitHub hosts it through GitHub Pages and may process ordinary network and server-log information under GitHub’s Privacy Statement.
Children
Memini is a general study tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Memini’s notebook, search, and recall features run entirely on your device and involve no third party. Ask AI is the one feature that does: it runs only when you explicitly invoke it, and it sends the region you select, its recognized text, and your prompt to Memini’s AI provider for processing. We recommend that a parent or guardian oversee any use of Ask AI by someone under 13, and that no personal information be included in a prompt or in the region submitted.
Changes
We may update this policy as Memini changes. The effective date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be reflected here before they apply to a new app release.
